Hi all,

I'm actually not sure whether the 2 candidates from Asia-Pacific really know much about the situation and development of Asian chapters, and thus help the chapters in the region.

Wikimedia Hong Kong supports WMDE's Alice to be one of the board member. Some of our board members had talked to her in the past. We found that she is really willing to give useful advice for the Wikimedia movement, including the chapters' development. We also think that her experience as WMDE's vice-president would be helpful if she is elected.

Hi Jeromy-Yu,

Some information is available here: in commons or meta-page --> we have Craig Franklin and Salmaan Haroon from Asia-Pasific. The other candidates are Alice Wiegand, Patricio Lorente, Liam Wyatt, Raul Gutierrez, Phoebe Ayers, Lodewijk Gelauff. The discussion of candidates is running here: http://chapters.wikimedia.ch/Appointment_process/2012/Criteria_table#Table.

Yuyu, since you are part of Chapters Committee, I am sure you know almost all the candidates long before us, can you also give some review from your own perspective/experience? It should be needed for us to decide :)

Back in Berlin Meeting, I envy the Iberocoop togetherness and starting a lively discussion like this will help Asian Chapters to grow up. Wikimedia Indonesia are willing to stand united. Although we proposed Craig and Salmaan (incidentally they are from Asian Chapters), we open the possibility of supporting other candidates. Whoever are the best candidates for Chapter Selected Board Seat (CSBS), those people will get support from us, but he/she should be able to stand upon Chapters interest and put it in the first place. I hope Asian Chapters do not vote for a candidate only considering the regional similarity, like Iberocoop probably do.

Since I only know Craig and Theo, I can only share some overview about them,
# Craig
He has a financial background and decentralization perspective. He able to think strategically and investigate the needs of movement in terms of funding distribution. Since, the Funds Dissemination Committee (FDC) will be signed by Board of Trustees, we need someone with accounting ability pro decentralized which will help chapter being independent.
# Theo
Supporting chapters to be independent. And with his personality, he can rock the boat of abstainer and difficult to silent.

I'm looking to hear other opinions about those candidates in this thread! :)

Regards,

Hi all

As I am not on any chapter board,
so I may seems stupid to ask this (but actually I dun really had that info)

as I didn't see any candidate from Asia this time (again)

so wondering any Asian Chapter made up their mind to support any candidate yet?
(or should not express anything here actually?)
