Hi Anirudh,

That would be great!  We received the invitation and I'll forward it to our mailing list.

Also, for everyone on this list: please fill out the participants table on Meta by visiting http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Asia_Project.  Let's also take the time to clean up the page and fill it up with ideas. :)

Thanks,

Josh

Hi,

Thanks all for initiating this thread.

I was thinking about this last night.  I believe a number of Foundation officials will make it to the WikiConference in India.  The India chapter is currently unable to fund travel expenses for foreign nationals.  However, we can propose to the Foundation that they allow a grant specially for Asian chapter for travel related expenditure.

I think this is important if we are to build a tighter-knit community of Asian contributors, share best practices and build resources.

Yours sincerely,

Anirudh Bhati

If we had money, I'd like to send someone to India for WikiConference India (which of course does not include myself). :P

Mailing list: you are both reviving this list as you post :)
Table of local hosts for Wikimedian travellers: anytime. Is anyone up for setting up the page and being the first to fill in their details? (name, username, and an "Email this user link" will suffice, I think)
Fund pool for Wikimedian travellers: I think this should be kept private and on-list, with actual arrangements made in private. I understand there's an upcoming conference in India. Who wants to go and need funding, and is there a chapter among us who is happy to fund someone from another Asian chapter?
