For most purposes a visitor Oyster card is the same as a normal Oyster card.

All Oyster cards are valid for all journeys within Zones 1-9 (excluding Southeastern High Speed services, Heathrow Express, and Heathrow Connect between Heathrow and Hayes and Harlington) up to the value of the credit stored on the card. For example if you have put £10 on the card then you can make £10 worth of journeys in any combination. If you reach the off-peak cap on day 1 you will have spent £8.90 (all subsequent journeys within the same capping area that day are free) and so on day 2 you will have £1.10 worth of credit.

If you are travelling every day then putting a weekly travelcard on your Oyster may be better value. For example, if you are making 2 journeys between zone 1 and zone 6 each day on 5 out of 7 days then pay as you go is cheaper, but if you make any other journeys during that 7 day period then a weekly zone 1-6 travel card is the cheaper option.

Dear all,

I have been doing some research work about travelling in London as I'm arriving a couple of days earlier. What about the visitor Oyster card? Are they for unlimited travel in London if purchased for Zone 1-6 (with an understanding that will not travel beyond that) or is there any cap??

IF any cap, what are the other options to hang around freely without any limit of-cos other than walking for a week ;) ??

Karthik Nadar.
