Hi Peter,
when you arrive at Gdansk Glowny (main station) there is a Orange shop just across the street, a bit right you see a shopping mall, there next the entrance to the mall.
The offer a prepaid card that allows usage for both phone calls and internet. They sell the SIM with 20 zl in the account for 20 zl.
If you just need a SIM for phone calls better go with Play which you can get very easily and which are most used among Wikimaniacs.
For Orange what you have to do is:
* tell the guy at the entrance that you want to buy the POP prepaid card with the "FREE" offer for mobile internet
* he will give you a ticket with a number, the number will be called when it is your turn to proceed to the counter
* after they have registered your SIM card (no ID or anything needed!) you will receive an invoice which you have to pay upstairs at the cassier desk
* back at the counter you get your SIM card
* ask the person at the counter to do the initial call to the operator for you to switch the language from polish to english, then all subsequent messages (also operator messages like your account balance) will be in english
* you should send a SMS with "FREE" to 3033 to activate the special FREE offer with 0,01 zl per 100 kb.
* you will receive the APN configuration as SMS, the PIN is 1234 (not documented I had to brute force that)
The whole process took for me about 20 minutes, the SIM was activated instantly.
/Manuel

Can you provide any details about where, how, and for how much you got this?

Many of you will be leaving in the next day or two, and have (quite
reasonably) asked about specifics regarding accommodation and
check-in.
The accommodation e-mails are going out as soon as the room
assignments are made, but that isn't moving forward as quickly as we'd
hoped. We have rooms for all of you—we just don't know exactly which
building you're in, so some of the early arrivals are left hanging.
If you don't receive another e-mail before you leave, please check in
at the conference venue[1]:
Polish Baltic Philharmonic
Ołowianka 1, Gdańsk
If need be, I will be sitting on the front steps myself. We'll direct
you to where you need to go and assist you with transportation.

Hello everyone,
It's obvious that no one yet knows “where exactly” to go once in Gdansk.
Most probably this information will be communicated to us soon. There is a
number of dormitories in which we will be lodged according to some
arrangement that we yet don't know. In any case, because some of us have
already arrived in Gdansk, some others are about to be there, these are the
directions available from the airport to the city according to the many info
that was provided in the list so far.
Once in the airport you can:
1)exchange Euro to PLN [1€ = 4.1 Zloty (zl)]. Try to obtain change for the
bus fare.
2)buy bus 210B tickets (4.20 zl) from the Gdańsk Tourist Organisation
Information desk in the terminal building on the ground floor opposite the
check-in desks.
3)take bus 210B to the main Gdańsk Główny train station. Then head by walk
for your destination (when you know the address finally!). The station is
probably 10 to 15 mins walk from most dormitories. So consider if you can do
it with your luggage or not.
4)Another bus called “Airport bus” (10 zl) moves from the airport in the
following times: 09:50, 10:50, 11:50, 13:10, 14:45, 16:05, 18:25, 19:50.
tickets can be purchased direct from the driver (euros accepted). Catch it
from the bus stop to the right of the terminal building, and find your
journey terminating outside the Hevelius Hotel, which is very close to the
Gdańsk Główny train station. You will still have to walk to your
destination.
5)You can take a taxi (45 to 55 zl, City Plus Neptun, with the following
number printed on them: 19686) directly to your destination. There are
warnings about other types of taxis which could be more expensive, so avoid
these.
Probably you can still take a taxi from Gdańsk Główny train station to your
dormitory if it is too far or if you have too much luggage and can't walk.
Departure times for the 210B bus from the airport can be found here:
http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=pl&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.…
I'm not sure of any of these info since i haven't yet arrived in Gdansk. But
it will be useful if someone can authenticate the info. or at least point
out if there is any mistake.
Have a safe and enjoyable trip everyone :)

Dear Wikimaniacs,
I hope you have all had a chance to look at the final program by now.
Three long days, but lots of amazing space to hang out and relax on
your own; of course noone is obliged to spend their conference time in
sessions ;-) We will have all the riverside seating and walkways
around the venue, and aside from an interlude in which a wedding party
is using the upstairs restaurant at our venue -- which should be fun
-- we will have full use of the Philharmonic during Wikimania.
We need another dozen or so volunteers to help with the sessions: we
are looking for room moderators (needed to moderate one room for at
least half a day), session chairs (helping disparate ideas and talks
integrate into a coherent discussion in the room), and general
room-helpers: people who can assist with technical issues that may
affect speakers and videographers, and help with crowd control and
cleanup.
If you are interested in any of these things, please leave a note on
the talk page of the main program, or let our program chair Jacek
Jankowski know.
More notes will be out shortly about where to start discussing your
own sessions -- every session will have its own talk page on the
maniawiki.
Thank you :-)

The power sockets are europlugs with "French-style" grounding pins:

I've just resent the confirmation e-mail to everyone who's registered,
but not yet confirmed. Please let me know if you don't get this.
Austin
In the registration process i asked for dormitories. I already
received the confirmation and payed for the registration, but i still
don't know where exactly i will be sleeping the first night.
I looked at the Google map which is linked from the wiki and there are
many hostels and dormitories in it.
If i won't know where i'm staying until i arrive, should i just come
to the Baltic Philharmonic? Note that my flight is scheduled to land
at 22:30, so i shall probably arrive after 23:00.
Very similar questions were already asked on this list in the last few
days, so can anyone please update this in the FAQ (
http://wikimania2010.wikimedia.org/wiki/FAQ ).

Hi,
When we arrive in Gdansk, will there be an Wikimania 2010 official at the airport to guide us to the venue or will we have to find our way through by ourselves?
Thanks
AJ

Can't confirm it exists, but there's talk of a new Airport Bus--an
option besides bus and taxi:
"newly launched Airport Bus, where 9.90złtickets can be purchased
direct from the driver (euros accepted). Catch it from the bus stop to
the right of the terminal building, and find your journey terminating
outside the Hevelius Hotel (return journeys back to the airport
available). Times as follows:
>From the airport 09:50, 10:50, 11:50, 13:10, 14:45, 16:05, 18:25, 19:50
To the airport 09:00, 10:20, 11:20, 12:30, 14:00, 15:20, 16:50, 19:00"
