Dear everybody,

One of the administrators on Meta have asked if we could shorten the time the CentralNotice is up for the contest (i.e. the banner on Wikipedia). I have tried to argue against it here but it would be great if I could link to any local discussions about the use of CentralNotice for WLPA (if you have any).

There are a few different ways forward that I see (and I might have missed some!):
  1. Ask him to keep the CentralNotice, based on the argument that I have posted there.
  2. Ask him to keep the CentralNotice up but tell him that during the week we will (again?) bring the issue to our respective Wikipedia community and see what the community thinks?
  3. In the discussion with him I suggested that we perhaps could modify the time frame that the CentralNotice is up for logged in users (but keep it on for anonymous user the entire time). What do you think about that?
  4. Adjust the time for both user groups a bit. If so, perhaps we could close the CentralNotice on the 25th or something? Is that a good date? Or is it better to close it for a week now and open it the last week?

Please let me know what you think is the best way forward!

Best,

John
