Hello,
I just editted the www.wikilovesmonuments.com site.
My client didn't pay for it and I guess it was just another trick to make my company lose money, this is the last time new clients can choose the option to pay after the domain is registered.
I would like to know who in the foundation I can contact to give the domain to.
Huib, why don't you just create a CNAME, instead of creating an IFRAME with publicity?
Cnames are messy and stupid.
I would prefer to recieve a IP nummer and make it a A recorod or AAA

Please make it a CNAME to wikilovesmonuments.eu for now. We're going to move servers and that way it doesn't have to be changed twice.

Maarten, Huib has been accused of many things that I frankly have a big problem in understanding. If he makes this CNAME - is there then a chance that he'll then give his accusers additional ammunition against him? If so, I'd alas advise him against doing this. Is it possible for him to pass ownership to i.e. WMF instead?

Which big advertisement? I haven't seen that any of the times I've opened this website - and can't see it now either. The only thing I see there is the header - identical to the one on the .eu-site - and I don't expect that is something you want to get rid of?

Do you see the big advertisement at the top? That's not ours, that's on Huib's site. Below that you'll see the normal site (iframe)
As I open the latest blogpost, I'm sent on to http://www.wikilovesmonuments.eu/2011/08/31/wiki-loves-monuments-only-one-day-left/ http://www.wikilovesmonuments.eu/2011/08/31/wiki-loves-monuments-only-one-da... Wasn't that what this all is about?
No, the point is to get rid of the advertisement and just make it a redirect.

Which big advertisement? I haven't seen that any of the times I've opened this website - and can't see it now either. The only thing I see there is the header - identical to the one on the .eu-site - and I don't expect that is something you want to get rid of?

Dear Huib,
Thank you so much for setting up the HTTP redirect to wikilovesmonuments.eu.
As a demonstration of our appreciation: you might want to review your DNS system, because your change is not being reflected anywhere in Internet. DNS "propagation" may take time, indeed, but if you query/trace your DNS servers directly, you can verify that it's still pointing to a WickedWay server. Like Maarten, I was also getting the advertisement page at that server.
In any case, an HTTP redirect is pretty fine, I would say, if you can't change your DNS for some weird reason.
It's easy to understand why people often prefer DNS redirection instead of HTTP redirect since in the latter case the owner of the server can still record some information about the visitors (before issuing the redirect) - please note that I'm not suggesting this is the case.
Many thanks to WickedWay for supporting and setting up this solution while the domain is being transfered.
Details below:
$ dig www.wikilovesmonuments.com @ns5.be | grep 'ANSWER SECTION' -A 2 ;; ANSWER SECTION: www.wikilovesmonuments.com. 300 IN A 85.17.189.166
$ dig -x 85.17.189.166 | grep 'ANSWER SECTION' -A 2 ;; ANSWER SECTION: 166.189.17.85.in-addr.arpa. 86355 IN PTR hosted-by.wickedway.nl.
Just in case:
$ curl -si http://www.wikilovesmonuments.com | grep Location Location: http://wikilovesmonuments.eu/
...which demonstrates an HTTP redirect at the WickedWay server.
Thank you once again,
Hello,
We tried dns by IP number (we got the number from traceroute) and we noticed that we where getting permission denied errors, the same Goes for the cname.
We now placed a http redirect until this problem is fixed. I have to say that I dont have any idea why people wil get a permission denied error, guess soms misconfig on the vps maybe?
I'm open for sugestions how to fix it.
Best,
Huib
