Hi Romaine,
Could you please make ID a required field?
BTW, I'm relieved to find that the second and third photos came with proper ID and look a lot nicer than the first. We expect to gear up our campaign next weekend.
Many thanks, Taweetham

Hi! It didn't happen to me, but I thought I'd share it. When uploading a photo of Estonian monument, UploadWizard showed like it was putting it into the category of WLM in China (look the picture attached). Afterwards the category was in fact correct, but during the upload this kind of thing could confuse people. I don't know if this happened accidentally only once or is it some system error.

Hi Alex,
2013/9/1 Àlex Hinojo alexhinojo@gmail.com
Hi When selecting a monument from a list an opening the upload wizard, the system presents all the information of the monument but not the ID, which needs to be rewritten manually. Is it correct or some kind of bug?
The fields to carry over to the Upload Wizard must be stated in the code of {{Filera IPA}}
At the moment your code is
[[Fitxer:Edit add.svg|x14px|Carrega una nova foto|alt=Carregueu una nova foto d'aquest monument|link=// commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:UploadWizard&campaign=wlm-es-cat& *id={{{bic|}}}* &descriptionlang=ca&description={{urlencode:{{{nomcoor|}}}}}&lat={{{lat|}}}&lon={{{lon|}}}
Note that id carries over the contents of {{{bic}}} but as far as I can see there is no BIC field (bad c/c with the ES lists I guess ?)
Which field shall be used ? id or idprot ?
It looks that the ID is still not required: * upload without ID (without any desreption): https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Testimage.png * upload with an invalid ID: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Testimage2.jpg
Is there any news on this topic?

I am looking forward to an update on this too.
But for the time being, I have experiment with
(a) suppressing the direct link to UploadWizard: Participants will be forced to go to the lists/map or other tools and click from there to upload.
(b) writing a template to explain about monument ID and placing it on talk page of those who have uploaded photos without ID (or with invalid ID).

The UK campaign is getting quite a few uploads with no id, or with a fake id. Probably that is because the international upload page
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_upload
goes straight to the local upload wizards without going though the required local upload route (the English Wikipedia for us).
Lodewijk: Could the field please be made mandatory for the UK campaigns, as soon as possible?
Thanks
Michael

The UploadWizard bug in this case was that fields were being marked as 'required' even when they did not have the required property set to true.
I've filed a bug at https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53842 and proposed a patch to fix this at https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/83082/
Note that if the 'required': true property is set to true, the field still will not let users continue without setting the id. The bug was only about the display of the red asterisk.

I can make the bot automatically leave for your country a "You haven't provided an id" template to the uploader but under your own responsability. Do you really want to reprimend the user because he placed a space instead of a dash in the identifier?
However, I find Kaew proposal of preparing a template for notificating "You forgot the id" a very good idea, as that can offer a more prepared explanation than the quick one made up by the notifier.

Thank you for your tools, I think, they will be very useful for everybody here!
I can make the bot automatically leave for your country a "You haven't provided an id" template to the uploader but under your own responsability. Do you really want to reprimend the user because he placed a space instead of a dash in the identifier?
First I would try to see how often is it happen and manage them with the help of your tools.
Thanks again!
Best, Samat

It looks that the ID is still not required:

However, I find Kaew proposal of preparing a template for notificating "You forgot the id" a very good idea, as that can offer a more prepared explanation than the quick one made up by the notifier.
If you choose the wording carefully it isn't a reprimand, but a warning that there picture doesn't compete in the competition, because a valid ID is required. If you then link to the helpdesk so they can ask for help, and of course link to documentation where they can find the information, this can even be seen positive.

Hi Platonides,
You tool is now working beautifully and very helpful to us in identifying incomplete/invalid submission. I was suggested earlier by Bas to use it by it was not displaying IDs and was not up to date with new submissions.
I have created a template and placed
== [[Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2013_in_Thailand/th|WLM in Thailand]] == {{Commons:Wiki Loves Monuments 2013 in Thailand/th/MID request}} --~~~~
to user talk pages. It is not a huge work at the moment (for Thailand) but it might be a good idea for other countries with large volume of submissions to try to do this by a bot.
P.S. You are welcome to add your language(s) to the template, if you feel like to :-) There are submissions from a Japanese and I am not sure whether s/he gets my messages. If you have created a similar template and want a translation into Thai, we will be happy to assist too.
Regards, taweethaも
