Dear all,
After I returned home, I realized that even though we made a wonderful budget for the European part of Wiki Loves Monuments, we did not decide how to split it up amongst the European chapters. Please find below the estimated costs. I would like to ask the chapters that can spare it, to consider contributing to this budget. More specifically, I would like to get at least a reply from: France, Germany, Netherlands, Poland and Switzerland whether they would be able to take a share in this budget.
Thanks,
Lodewijk
To bring back in memory, the following costs were estimated:
TOTAL: Worst case scenario: 10.300 EURO + shipping - Best-case scenario: 3.000 EURO
* Prizes (1.500 EURO) (if no sponsors are found) * Printing 500+ calendars (WMPL will find budget locally): 3.000 euro * shipping + boxes, winning messages and so on. ( 200 for finalists + 300 for the chapters) * Intl. thankyou goodies (calendars will go for that now) * grant system for chapters that need help. 1.500 euro * Optional: Jury costs? (7 people (says 8 above)): 2.400 (travel) + 400 (hotel) + 200 (meeting room) + 300 (living costs) = 3.300 euro * Announcement costs? 1.000 euro (worst case)
please note: * Hopefully printing costs will end up at zero * Odder is still trying to find an estimate for shipping costs * Jury costs we did not make a decision on, but I budgeted it in for worst case. * Announcement costs are assuming that we cannot do that during DISH. * This is on top of existing budget by Wikimedia Nederland (for travel costs etc)

Dear Lodewijk, I am a little bit confused because we are organizing in Switzerland:
a) Swiss Jury b) prizes for swiss competition c) and so on
In few words the project has had the idea that WLM was an event based per country.
Here it seems that there will be an European jury, European prizes and an event valid for all Europe.
I have miss the first part of the organization of WLM, but I don't know if this is a decision taken in Berlin or if it was decided in that format at the start and we have misunderstood something.

Hi all Happy to hear so much good stuff from Berlin's meeting, seems that it was really positive. Regarding the cost of the European part, WMCH should be in the position to participate. I would only know as soon as possible the requested amount for us, in order to know if I can take it out of my budget for the local contest or if I have to go in front of the board to ask for additional money (which I don't like so much). Thanks, Nico
Ps quick question : any idea when the specific upload form will be available in Commons? I didn't found any timeline information on this topic.

Hi Nico,
I tried to give an indication of the total budget in my first email in this thread. Please let us know if and how much WMCH would be willing to reserve for this.
If there are only a few chapters willing/able to chip in, we would be able to cut back on expenses of course, but first of all I need to know who would /in principe/ be willing to spend money on this and what order of magnitude, then I could try to split up the budget and give exact amounts.
Thanks,
Lodewijk

Consider the Switzerland to be part of these costs.
I don't know how much, but we could participate.

Although it has not been discussed in our Board I think we can take some costs (say - up to 1 k EUR) - there is only legal problem of sending money abroad - I mean if we are about to pay for something we must receive a valid invoice. Direct bank transfer from WMPL to WMNL might be legaly problematic. We can for example - order something in any Polish company and send it to WMNL. The direct refund for travel costs is also possible.
Thank you Tomasz,
I will keep that in mind when splitting up the budget :) I do realize btw that Odder proposed to find the budget/sponsors for the calendars, so if there are any costs left over there, that would be a way to also resolve this minor complication. Most important is now to know what order of magnitude which chapter is willing to chip in for this.
Thanks,
Lodewijk

Dear all,
thanks to Wikimedia Deutschland, Wikimedia Nederland and Wikimedia Polskawe have 5000 euro budget available and Wikimedia CH has also expressed an interest to help out, but did not specify a budget yet. I will work on a more targeted budget (trying to fit it together) and let you know what goes where. Soon more news.
Best,
Lodewijk
