Hi,
How do you guys check if there are errors in the uploaded images and if the pictures are eligible to participate? Manually checking all the images is a little bit tedious for Romania (350 pictures), I don't even want to think what it would mean in France or Switzerland. Still, it will need to be done at some time.
To make my life easier, I created [[Category:Cultural heritage monuments in Romania with errors]], where I place all the monuments that have obvious mistakes in the monument ID. What other filters do you have in place?
I'm also thinking that maybe in the future we should have some JavaScript checks on the value introduced in the monument ID field.
Thanks, Strainu
Don't tell anybody ;-), but we won't (and cannot) check for Germany. Though we'll certainly check all the images on the jury's top-100-list and remove obviously ineligible pictures as we find them (we had one from Chicago, for example).
I don't think it's a huge problem if there are some non-monument-pictures in the contest categories, as long as they don't win a prize and are categorized correctly, they don't hurt anybody and are useful for Commons.

We use a tool linked from our WLM ID template: http://www.wikilovesmonuments.org.pt/tools/verify/?wlm_id=6563987
This will tell us what we need, and what we can add to the photo, since we're looking at it. You can compare the uploaded photo with photos from the authorities and see if they match.
I think this is typically something that can be decided locally - but it is a good idea to exchange experiences!
In the Netherlands, as far as I know (but we have active volunteers who always do more work than I know!) we dont have a process of checking every image. We assume good faith like we do with every image description in commons. However, we could perhaps do a run on the templates with a bot by the end of the contest to check them against the database to see if they exist. I am no fan of all fancy javascripts on commons because they make everything so much more complicated - but do what works best for you!

Hello Strainu,
My persoanl choice is to daily check every new image that is uploaded. In Belgium/Luxemburg we have almost 1.000 files uploaded, and by checking them each they, I mostly correct wrong id-codes. I makes sure they are in the category tree under the communicipality. Also I put alle the images that aren't in a list into a list where they belong (if not double). By doing eacht day a part, at the end we do not have much work.
Howver I can use help with checking these files.
Greetings - Romaine
