Hi everyone,
A page on Commons was started for folks interested in participating in
Wiki Loves Monuments 2012 in the United States.
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2012_in_the_…
I'm also hoping that this will lead to "cross-border" coordination
between Mexico, the US, and Canada, as well. But, I figure that can be
organized at a later date (and that we can discuss it at GLAMcamp US,
which will feature representatives from WM MX and WM Canada!).
This will be a great opportunity to also develop relationships with
smaller cultural organizations such as historical societies (many which
are often housed in historic buildings!), archives, libraries, and other
organizations that retain amazing visual content related to historical
buildings, monuments and landmarks in the United States. And don't
forget public art ;)
Personally, I'll be focusing on coordination of West coast projects,
since I feel that the US is going to be a bit tough to a solid universal
coordination (sort of like Russia, this past year) in. And also I hope
to use the Wiki Takes platform for events.
Of course I'll be taking photographs of historical places wherever I
travel this year, and I hope you will too! (And it's SO hard for me to
not upload those images!!)
