This would indeed be very welcome, when a monument has 10 pictures you could pick the best one for the list.

Thanks Platonides :) We are using your tool also for the first selection of the submitted images. The evaluation committee asked me if it is possible to view only a category for a certain id (for instance Category:Images from Wiki Loves Monuments 2012 in Italy needing check and country=it&id=00500599) It would be very useful for them. Pity, would it be possible to create a similair tool that would work on all the files. Should be possible via the sortkey of the heritage templates.

I've been thinking about doing this for quite some time (I even opened a bug for it), but I didn't get around implementing it. Now each tool parses the templates themselves. The better setup would be to update a table of id's on a regular basis and have the tools work on that. Maarten

Provided you have created a category for that monument then I would recommend just looking at the category, and if you have several images for a monument it makes sense to put them all in one category. If you have a matching article on Wikipedia you can then link the whole lot via a {{commonscat}} Here is a category I created today http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Conderton_Hill_Fort Using the standard Commons interface rather than a specific tool has several advantages, not least that it is the way a very large proportion of users will use it.
