Thanks for your response. Given your response and that no one else has brought up concerns, we will go ahead and use a mono-color logo. I will share it in Commons and on this thread once we have it ready so at least if someone else needs it in the future, we can reuse the same one and create some common patterns of usage for the brand.

I guess this means that there is no problem with changing colors. Unless you end up being mistaken for Wiki Loves Monuments Antarctica :)
