Stats might be a good idea if you can have a good and easy to read summary.

You can link/embed any area copying the full url, like this http://tools.wmflabs.org/wlm-maps/#8/28.454/-16.106 Just zoom in the proper country.

And maybe a search box if not too complicated / too heavy. Allowing user to search for a specific town.

Search box is enabled (zoom icon).

I write these ideas as I think about them, not sure they're all good !
