Dear all in this thread,

First of all, thank you for participating.

However, please note that we need to make a move on this a little early. We still have a bit of time in case we want to really go-ahead for the training.

In case, if anyone is feeling this training sounds non-realistic which at this point of time even I feel, I think it might be just fair to have a small international team to take off this contest this year.

Would you like to be part of the international team to host the contest for 2015, feel free to drop an email to me by 3rd of Jan.

Regards from Mumbai,
Karthik Nadar.

ps: thank you very much to the people who did actively participate! Your input is very much appreciated, and I don't want an image to exist that nobody helped at all :)

Hi all,

an update. I decided to no longer pursue the training the way I envisioned it: a large meeting (with a rather large budget attached to it) with very effective knowledge and experience sharing. There is simply not enough engagement, even though there is some enthusiasm for the idea. I'm sorry that I wasn't able to put people together effectively in a timely manner.

From the beginning it was clear that this kind of meeting could only work if there is a lot of engagement from all participants during the preparation of the meeting. With the kind of involvement there has been so far, it would be too much of a change of pace to be realistic. Unfortunately, because it would have been a great exercise.

It might be that the international team of 2015 (which needs to be brought together still) will set up a smaller meeting with a clear focus on the organization of WLM 2015, and that they invite a few people to that too, but that will have to be part of their general budget.

If anyone tries to set up a workshop or anything at one of the Wikimedia meetings (chapters conference, glam wiki, etc) feel free to involve me for thoughts, participation or other support. The number of people who indicated their interest on the page might also be helpful.

Best,
Lodewijk

oh, input on the budget was already right from the beginning very welcome!

I will put some thoughts there too, but don't want to overflow the page with my doing everything :) So if you can take a first shot at it, then I can take a look and edit too. I think I'll have some time tonight or tomorrow. (finally!)

Best,
Lodewijk

Hi Lodewijk,

Planning is a never ending process, I thin we need to freeze somewhere and go ahead with the budget.

If there will be no Romaine, I can talk about it. I was responsible for all technical stuff in Polish WLM including this page[1], setting custom upload wizzard campaign on Commons, building map for uploading pictures[2], etc.

Would anyone consider going over the technical side of running the contests? Tutorials on the banners, how it also auto-categorize the uploads, etc..
