Hi all,
Here is a status update about our collaboration with Flickr.
* 5 cities have already signed up to organize photowalks: San
Francisco and Denver in the US, Berlin in Germany, Leon in Spain, and
Melilla. Our Flickr contacts have told us that they expect to see
(many) more cities join in the coming couple of weeks. At this point,
I see discussions about Brisbane, Australia and an invitation for
photowalks in Italy (Thanks, Nemo!)
* In Wikimania, bunch of us sat together and designed a user-flow that
can help Flickr users identify which monuments are eligible, how to
contribute, and how their uploads is to be brought to Wikimedia
Commons.
** Paweł is working on a landing page that Flickr walk organizers
and/or photographers can go to and get information about the eligible
monuments. We will start testing the interface with the 5 cities
mentioned above in the coming days. If you are the point of contact
for the corresponding countries on our end, you may receive pings from
us with question. :)
** Maarten started working on the bot that will read the images on
Flickr and bring them to Commons. (The task is tracked at
https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T173056 )
* As always, please make sure the list of definitely participating
countries is updated. This is especially critical now that we have
created external dependencies, i.e., people are organizing photowalks
based on the information in this table:
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_ Monuments_2017/Participating_ countries#Definitely_ participating_countries
That's it for now. :) Comments and questions are welcome!
Best,
Lily
