Some wikis have a script like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Common.js/secure_new.js that rewrites http to https if you logged in as https, but it is not available in all wikis.

On September 3 was scheduled to enable HTTPS for all user logins. On wiki you can use a relative URL //commons.wikimedia.org. Off wiki it is better to use https://commons...

Hi everyone,

Https is the default now. So if you make an upload link to Commons use httpS and not http, otherwise the user will get a "you're not logged in bla die bla" error message.
