As mentioned above, I'd like to push the new banners on-line when we
break the record; which, in general estimates, might happen somewhere
between September 15 and September 20. This would give us about two
weeks to translate the phrases into the 37 languages we use for our
current banners.
We should also have blog posts  prepared for that event. Maybe add a reference for the statement in the CentralNotice?
Wikipedians would certainly enjoy it, although not sure about the general public:

Can we keep the height of CentralNotice the same?

Oh, and if you wis to keep [ref] in the notice, then we should update  https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2012/CentralNotice#Record_banner. I think everyone will be glad to translate the [ref] thing to their language. :)
