Hi!
In my opinion, a prize that you can't enjoy until almost a year later, it's not a good prize. I'm agree with Strainu too. I think that we would have to do a brainstorming of possible European first prize.

Glad we clarified this :) I'm personally in favor of this prize, as long as we market it as a vacation. However, you should consider that the citizens in some of the participating countries - including Romania - need a visa for entering the US. This might discourage them from participating.

"present" should in this context not be read as "give a presentation" ;-)
I
could imagine though that we print the winning photos and "present" it
that
way to the audience. Lodewijk

For non-wikipedians you can see it as a 3 day vacation to washington
DC,
where you only have to go to the conference once to tell something
about
the picture.
Wow, wow, wow...hold on guys :) You're not seriously considering forcing the winner to present his picture at Wikimania, are you? This is supposed to be a prize, not a task.
If we market this as a "three day vacation to DC with the possibility to take part in Wikimania" it would be OK I guess, but we should not force the winner to go to the conference for whatever reason.
