fyi, I created a new WLM chat channel on the new Mattermost install:
https://chat.wmcloud.org/wikimedia/channels/wikilovesmonuments The main
advantage over iRC is that you can also see messages from before you join,
allowing you to log in every now and then, rather than be constantly
online.
People can of course keep using the Freenode channel if they so desire.
