I imagine that it is possible to use the logo in a foundation-funded project, but you are right that technically CC-BY-SA means you can take out any part and use it for any purpose. Can anyone here quickly give additional opinions on this? It shouldn't be a problem to remove the logo.
FYI: the logo does appear in 2012's calendar, we have the printed version but cannot find the online version right now.
