Dear all, I am working for Wikimedia Germany together with Nicole and am currently helping out with the Wiki Loves Monuments project. Right now I am trying to find the cheapest way to order all of the T-Shirts in one place and have them send to the participating countries by the shirt printing company. Hopefully the negotiations will be done within the next couple days and the T-Shirt printer can start doing his job. In order to send them to you, we will need adresses. My request: Please send me a delivery adress containing: - Name - Street & house number - Postal Code - Town - Country so we can start sending out the shirts as soon as possible. Wiki Loves Monuments calendars -- an order form

Dear All, I am delighted to confirm that the Board of Wikimedia Poland has generously agreed to cover the costs of producing 500 calendars showing 12 best photos from the European stage of our competition as chosen by the European jury. The calendars will be printed on a high quality A3 or A4 photographic paper, and will consist of 13 pages, including the title page. We will have the possibility to design them from scratch and are currently looking for a graphic designer and a DTP specialist -- volunteers are hereby warmly welcomed :-) Wikimedia Poland will pay for the said 500 calendars; in order to collect your orders, I've designed a Google form, just as it was designed by Nicole for the T-shirts. Please fill the form giving all the required information, as stated at <http://goo.gl/b2T20>. As we have to divide those 500 calendars between 18 participating countries, we plan to send 25 calendars to each country; you will be able to order more than that, but you'll need to pay for the additional number. The shipping costs will be covered from our European budget. Dear all, We have received an inspiring message from the winner of the Portuguese competition that we would like to share with you. Ha has authorized us to publish and share it. I took the liberty of translating it to English for your enjoyment. I think it would give a very nice blog post for the european site. João Martinho uploaded 500 pictures of 181 different monuments in Portugal, and won the prize for Best Picture. He has a second picture that will also compete for the European prize. His message is below. Best, Gonçalo *Dear members of Wikimedia Portugal,* * * * * *it was with great satisfaction that I received the news of my victory in the photo competition “Wiki Loves Portugal – Portugal” with the photo “Alameda de Pedra” captures at the Carmo Convent in Lisbon in September 2008.* * * * * *I no longer recall when the interest in photography of monuments and landscapes awoken in me; when I think about it I believe it was always in me, starting with my curiosity in registering pictures of places and moments in my memory that had in some way moved me, I was a child still without a camera of my own, but I own the most important equipment a photographer could have: the visual sensitivity about what surrounds him.* * * * * *With the years I started gaining enthusiasm and acquiring photographic equipment that allowed me to reproduce and crystalize in time that which I had observed in the journeys I have been doing through this world of ours. Now this purpose is rekindled and I would like to take the opportunity of this award to consolidate my mission of contributing the best way I can (through photographic images) to alert the competent authorities to this true SOS from some of the national heritage. The competition was newbie-oriented, and many nominations were thought with maximizing the number of photos in mind: whole buildings, panoramas, building details, amateur shots (that’s important for the newcomers), detailed picturing of a building or a whole architectural complexes… Several nomination places were granted to the partners who have their opinion on what’s important as well. Wikipedia community already says that most valuable pictures from this competition are pictures of ruins and rare pictures, as it most closely matches the goals of Wikipedia; we understand that professionals’ look may be totally different. But our winners form a full-fledged portrait of the city, show its look and appearance. We think of the competition as a success. It was one of the first GLAM projects in Russia. It was much of a pilot project, and now we have lots of things to think about. Tomorrow, on 2nd of November, we open an exhibition in the center of Petersburg with photos from the competition. We will use QRpedia, and we don’t know of any other freely licensed or QRpedia-enabled exhibitions in Russia; we also don’t know about mills in Petersburg :) The exhibition will stay until 14th of December; then it will be moved to Helsinki. -- regards, Lvova

Today wrote a little bot to convert current lists. Hi, For the WLM in the Netherlands I want to make statistics from how many monuments somebody made a picture. In principle the sql for this is simple: SELECT img_user_text, COUNT(img_user) FROM image JOIN page ON img_name=page_title JOIN categorylinks AS clA ON page_id=clA.cl_from WHERE page_namespace=6 AND page_is_redirect=0 AND clA.cl_to='Images_from_Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2011_in_the_Netherlands' and img_timestamp > '20110831220000' and img_timestamp < '20110930220000' GROUP BY img_user_text ORDER BY COUNT(img_user_text) DESC; However, the uploader selected here is the last uploader, not the first. Due to this, one of the uploaders in this list is 'rotatebot'. I know the other uploaders are in a different table, but I don't see an easy way to build the query, certainly because there is not always something in that table. Does anybody know a good way to solve this? Part of the reason I was looking for this is because of our quantity price, but fortunately the number of pictures of rotatebot is low enough not to have effect on the top 3. Regards, Andre

Hello all, I think it is time to get some statistics added to: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2011 I already added the total number of fictures as shown on www.wikilovesmonuments.eu, but what I miss is for example the total of number of uploaders/participants. Perhaps also a table with for each country the number of pictures that were uploaded and the number of participants in a country. And perhaps other statistics as well. I think this can be put in a table on the page I linked above. Who can help with that or take it up? I created a header with == Results == as section for these statistics. Greetings - Romaine

Dear All, I am proud and delighted to hereby announce that the jury of Wiki Loves Monuments 2011 in Poland has chosen the three winning photos of the contest and 7 other pictures that won an honourable mention; all ten photos are also nominated for the European stage of the competition. What I find *really* incredible is that all ten winning photos have been uploaded to Wikimedia Commons by users who have registered an account specifically for the contest. Bad categorized images

Hi!, I have noticed now that there are some images with bad or double categorization in some categories of http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Wiki_Loves_Monuments, in this category there are 3 photos of "monuments" but without the template and I don't know where categorize them, and in http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2011 there are 179 photos, most of then of "monuments" with double categorization, Is correct simply delete the Wiki Loves Monuments category if them have the correct subcategory?. Downloading images

Hi everyone, Some of our jury members would like to download images. Last year I made https://fisheye.toolserver.org/browse/multichill/bot/erfgoed/download_WLM.p… . It's a simple pywikipedia based downloader. Easy for me, but not really for a (non-technical) jury member. Any suggestions what to give them? I was thinking about compiling a list of all images, either originals or thumbs depending on the size, as list of urls which people could feed to a tool like wget. Any easier suggestions? Maarten
