Dear Wiki Loves Earth Enthusiasts,
Wikimania 2025 is just around the corner! This year's event will be held in Nairobi, Kenya, from August 6-9 (with a pre-conference on August 5), and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Our conference theme, "Wikimania at 20: Inclusivity. Impact. Sustainability.*, resonates deeply with the mission of Wiki Loves Earth to foster appreciation for our heritage and contribute to a global repository of free knowledge.
We’re reaching out to invite you to submit program proposals for the conference before March 31. We’d love to see your ideas come to life. Proposals can be presented in various formats: ● Remote presentations from the comfort of your home or workplace. ● Pre-recorded sessions to share at the conference. ● Onsite presentations in Nairobi, Kenya.
We welcome all creative and impactful proposals. To help spark ideas, here are a few topics that may align with the conference theme:
● Strategies for involving underrepresented communities in local natural heritage projects using Wikimedia platforms. ● Showcasing how WLE photos have contributed to Wikimedia projects or have been utilized in education, research, or media worldwide. ● Approaches to keeping Wikimedia projects like Wiki Loves Earth vibrant, relevant, and usable for years to come.
If you’ve ever had a vision for a session that highlights your work or your insights in these areas, now is the time to make it happen. You can submit your proposal at https://wikimania.wikimedia.org/wiki/2025:Program .
For inquiries, comments, or assistance with your proposal, please email wikimania@wikimedia.org. Our team of dedicated volunteers will be happy to guide you.
We look forward to your participation. We look forward to seeing your contributions that highlight the continued impact of Wiki Loves Earth at this landmark event. Let’s work together to make Wikimania 2025 a truly memorable celebration of free knowledge and community collaboration.
Warm regards,
