Good luck with the new rules! I'm very curious what the 2 Mpx minimum will
do to the submissions. My expectation is that it will (if anything) only
reduce the number of participations, trigger disappointment that images are
disqualified and therefore reduce retention - and I'm curious to see it to
the test! We have had similar discussions in Wiki Loves Monuments in the
past years.

Hi Alexander,
We discussed this and we decided to explicitly allow such photos. We will add this to the
rules.

Ilya, thanks for the link.
Nikola, yes, this page answers my questions, but you still have to modify:
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Earth_2016/Rules
Please, be explicit in which pictures are allowed for the contest. Large picture of a
bird is not a picture of an 'identifiable natural monument'. We had many problems
with this ambiguity last year.
Finally, posting something on an unlinked Commons page is definitely not the right way of
informing people about your decisions. I would appreciate if you post such information on
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons_talk:Wiki_Loves_Earth_2016
and make announcements in the mailing list, so that everyone is reached. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Alexander

Hello Alexander,
I would be very grateful to you if you would not be shouting[1]. Ilya is right about the
linking of the document.
Best regards,

Hi, Alexander
I think main problem is that

Dear Nikola,
There are more open questions than the contest period. Namely,
- the rules say that the photos 'Contain an identified natural monument / natural
park / protected area etc.' This requirement is not fulfilled by at least 30% of the
winners from last year because pictures of birds and flowers do not contain any identified
natural monument. You either have to change the wording as to include such pictures, or
you have to discard them, or you have to do something else. A separate nomination for
these pictures was discussed on the talk page, so perhaps someone could finally write
something conclusive there??? It is at least fourth time I am asking this question, and I
never got any meaningful response.
- cutoff on image resolution. If it stays at 2 Mpx, fine. If you want to change it, do
it now
- we need a clear timeline, such as:
** Contest period: May 1-31
** Deadline for the submission of winners from each country: June 30
** International jury starts grading process: July 5
** International jury ends grading process: July 31
** Winners announced: August 10
You can choose any dates you like, but you have to give us a clear timeline already
NOW.
Sincerely,
Alexander

Dear Nataliia,
The discussion at Commons_talk:Wiki Loves Earth 2016 has been dormant for weeks now.
When can we expect the WLE timeline along with clearly defined rules for this year? The
most pending question is about nominations, birds, flowers and all these issues that
directly affect the structure of national contests.
I look forward to hearing from you or from other international organizers.
Sincerely,
Alexander
