Hi Martins,

Thank you. That makes sense. I personally prefer to limit one place per photographer to have a wider and more diverse reach, but that would mean disqualifying very very good pictures. And I'm not sure what other implications this would have.

Hello Anton,

Following the email I sent you off-list, would it be wise if we adopt a one photo per winner rule now, and push up other winners? Or, do you or the org team, have any alternative suggestions?

Looking forward to your thoughts.

Yours truly,

Hi!

We (Latvia) put a clause limiting photographer to 3 entries in top 10. In that case 11th place gets moved up.

WMAu has always awarded multiple prizes when a photographer produces multiple finalists, only ever been 2, if it's more than 1/3rd of the available prizes then that might be an issue

Hi Anton,

Thank you for this as well. Sorry for troubling, but I have one more question as we close WLE for Sri Lanka.

We noticed that some of the final winning photographs are by the same photographer. What do we do in this case? Do we award two certificates? And if so, do we also award two prizes to the same photographer?

Asking here for the benefit of others :-)

Hi Rehman,

We are asking all local organizers to confirm they checked the photos for relevancy (i.e. whether the photos really depict a nature protected area) themselves. We will pay particular attention to the countries for which we will not manage to receive such a confirmation.

If you or anyone sees such cases, they are very welcome to let us know at wle-team@wikimedia.org.ua

Thank you, Anton.

Another question:

I've noticed that some countries have submitted finalists which depicts subjects which are not of protected areas nor representative species.

May I know what is the international team's comment on that?

Hi Rehman,

Yes, establishing contacts with winners (or at least trying one's best to do so) is mandatory. Thanks for the question.

Hi Anton,

Just want to reconfirm here, for the benefit of others as well.

Is it mandatory to establish contact with the top 10 winners, before submitting the finalists to the international WLE team?

Hello!

The international organizing team of Wiki Loves Earth 2019 is delighted to note that winners for seven countries have already been published on https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Earth_2019/Winners.
On this page, you can already explore beautiful photos of Australian, Colombian, Croatian, Georgian, Nigerian, Filipino, and Swedish nature.

Besides, we would like to remind local organizers that the deadline for submitting your country's winners is August 1st. You can either publish the winning photos on the aforementioned page or send them to the international team privately if you would like to keep them secret before your award ceremony.
The international team reserves the right to disqualify countries which have missed the deadline from the international competition. If you need an extension, please contact us in advance.

If you have any questions or need any advice, please feel free to contact the international team at wle-team@wikimedia.org.ua
