Dear Wikimedians,
We are excited to announce the theme for the 13th iteration of Wiki Loves
Africa <https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Africa> -
IDENTITY

the many ways African communities express who they are - through language,
clothing, music, dance, ceremonies, food, stories, knowledge, traditions,
relationships with nature, and everyday life.

Dear Wikimedians,
Thank you for being part of Wiki Loves Africa 2026 and for contributing
your time, creativity and knowledge to the campaign. Whether you
participated by taking photographs, creating videos or audio, attending an
event, helping with uploads, or simply supporting the campaign in your
community, your contribution helped make this year's edition possible.
As we begin looking ahead to future editions of Wiki Loves Africa, we would
love to hear about your experience. We have prepared a short survey to
understand what worked well, what could have been better, the challenges
you encountered, and what you would like to see improved in future
campaigns.
Your feedback will help us reflect on the 2026 campaign and make better
decisions around the theme, training and learning resources, communication,
events, community support, participation, and overall participant experience.
We are particularly interested in honest feedback, including suggestions
and constructive criticism. There are no right or wrong answers - we want
to hear what you genuinely experienced.
Please take a few minutes to complete the survey here: Wiki Loves Africa
2026 survey <https://wikimedia.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0xLYOGSMUFILI7s>
The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. You are
welcome to share as much detail as you feel comfortable providing. Your
responses will be reviewed as part of the planning and improvement process
for future Wiki Loves Africa iterations.
Once again, thank you for being part of Wiki Loves Africa 2026. Every
contribution, whether large or small, helps us document Africa and make its
stories, people, cultures, landscapes and everyday life more visible and
accessible to the world.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,

Dear Wikimedians,
As we wrap up Wiki Loves Africa 2026, it is already time to start looking
ahead to the next edition!
The Wiki Loves Africa International Organizing Team is seeking input from
the African Wikimedia community to help determine the theme for the 2027
edition of the contest.
For 2027, we want a theme that inspires photographers, videographers, and
storytellers across Africa to explore, document, and share the incredible
diversity of the continent. And we want you to help us choose it!
We have prepared a selection of proposed themes, each offering a different
way of looking at Africa; Its people, cultures, stories, creativity,
traditions, everyday life, and the many things that make the continent
unique.
Now it is your turn to vote!
Your vote will help us identify the theme that the Wikimedia community
feels is most exciting, meaningful, and inspiring for Wiki Loves Africa
2027.
Cast your vote here: https://w.wiki/UG4C
Voting deadline: 21 September 2026
Please take a few minutes to review the proposed themes and vote for the
one(s) you would most like to see as the focus of Wiki Loves Africa 2027.
Think beyond what is easy to photograph. Think about the stories we can
tell, the perspectives we can bring forward, and the aspects of Africa that
deserve greater visibility on Wikimedia Commons.
Together, let's create another edition that encourages people across Africa
to explore, create, document, and share.
Thank you for being part of the Wiki Loves Africa community. We look
forward to hearing your choice and seeing which theme will shape the 2027
edition!
