(Apologies for cross-posting and for the message being in English only!)
Dear WLA organizers and participants,
We have some good news for you! As potential interested stakeholders, we
would like to share with you that the Connection Product team
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Campaigns/Foundation_Pro…>
at the Wikimedia Foundation is enabling the CampaignEvents extension
<https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Extension:CampaignEvents> on Wikimedia
Commons by the week of September 15th.
This extension is designed to simplify the management of community events,
projects, and campaigns, such as yours! In addition to facilitating the
discovery and participation of all contributors in these events. Once it's
enabled on Wikimedia Commons, organizers will have access to features that
will help communicate with participants, as well as plan, organize, and
promote events/campaigns/projects on Wikimedia Commons, without having to
rely on external platforms.
The features of the extension are:
- Event Registration:
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Event_Center/Registration> A tool that
helps organizers and participants manage event registration directly on the
wiki.
- Collaboration List
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Campaigns/Foundation_Pro…>:
A global list of events and a local list of WikiProjects, accessible at
Special:AllEvents <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:AllEvents>.
- Invitation List:
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Campaigns/Foundation_Product_Team/Invitatio…>
A tool to help organizers find editors who might want to join, based on
their past contributions.
For more information, please check the message shared
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Village_pump#Upcoming_Deployment…>
on Wikimedia Commons’ Village Pump.
If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to share them on
the extension discussion page
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:CampaignEvents>. We would love to
hear from you before the rollout!
As organizers, if you want to know more about the extension or help us
engage/use the features on Wikimedia Commons, and assist us in creating an
adoption strategy for the extension, please let us know either here,
on the extension
discussion page <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:CampaignEvents>, or
by contacting me directly via <gfontenelle(a)wikimedia.org>.
Thanks so much for your attention!
Best,
Giovanna

Dear Wikimedians,
On behalf of the Wiki Loves Africa team, we would like to extend our
heartfelt gratitude to you for being part of Wiki Loves Africa 2025.
This year’s theme, “Farm to Plate,” invited us all to reflect on and
celebrate the journey of African food culture from cultivation to
preparation and enjoyment. Thanks to your participation, thousands of
images, videos, and audio recordings now tell richer, more diverse stories
of African traditions, creativity, and daily life.
Your contributions have helped share the African story and ensure that
knowledge about our continent is freely available to the world through
Wikimedia projects. For this, we say a very big thank you.
As we look ahead, we are committed to making Wiki Loves Africa even more
impactful in future editions. To do this, we would love to hear from you.
Your feedback is essential in helping us understand what worked well, what
challenges you faced, and how we can make the campaign an even better
experience for all.
Please take a few minutes to fill out our feedback survey:

Hello Wikimedians,
Wiki In Africa is excited to announce the 2025 focus of the Wilson Oluoha
Prize. The Wilson Olouha Prize honours the contribution of our late
colleague Wilson Kelechi Oluoha to Wiki Loves Africa. As Community
Facilitator for Wiki Loves Africa, Wilson was dedicated to doing more to
celebrate the work of communities and user groups across Africa in
highlighting local knowledge and cultures via the contest. It is a fitting
tribute to his vision that the focus of the inaugural prize in his name
celebrates their efforts
The 2025 Wilson Oluoha Prize will be awarded to three national winners
selected from the Wiki Loves Africa National Winners Page
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Africa_2025/National_…>
by the Wiki In Africa team.
1st Prize : $500 USD
2nd Prize : $350 USD
3rd Prize : $150 USD
Prizes may be awarded to photographs, videos or audio entries. However, only
National Prize winners that have been uploaded to the Wiki Loves Africa
National Winners Page
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Africa_2025/National_…>
will qualify. Wikimedian communities have until the Friday, 15 August 2025 to
upload National Winners to the page in order to be considered
Winners of the 2025 Wilson Oluoha Prize will be announced at Wiki Indaba in
November separately from the International Winners as part of a campaign to
bring attention to the incredible contributions of African Wikimedians in
making Wiki Loves Africa a success.

Hilary Ogali
