Hello,
Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) is the non-profit organisation with headquarters
at San Francisco and maintains all the Wikimedia projects including
Wikipedia.
WMF gives away four grants : Annual Plan Grant
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:APG>(APG), Program Engagement Grants
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:PEG> (PEG), Individual Engagement
Grants <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:IEG> (IEG) & Travel and
Participation Support <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:TPS>(TPS).
While IEG and TPS are given to individuals with IEG for (approximately) 6
months duration and TPS for participating in a conference. PEGs are given
to community for a time-bound activity, while APG(Annual plan grant ) given
to WMF affiliates. For more details you may see:

One of the key mandates of the Access to Knowledge (A2K)
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/India_Access_To_Knowledge> program at
the Centre
for Internet and Society (CIS) <http://cis-india.org> is to work towards
catalysing the growth of free and open knowledge movement in South-Asia and
in Indic languages. CIS has been a steward of the Wikimedia movement in
India since December 2008, when Jimmy Wales visited Bangalore. From
September 2012, it has been actively involved in growing the movement in
India through a grant received from the Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) for the
period September 2012 to June 2014 and through the FDC Grant received for
the period July 2014 to June 2015 & July 2015 to June 2016.
These two APGs should have been written with much wider community
consultation. Due to paucity of time the entire community may not have been
involved. CIS-A2K would like to sincerely apologise for the earlier
shortcoming in planning, communication and design of our APG proposals.
APG grants are open twice during a year: Round 1- January to December and
Round 2- July to June.
CIS-A2K has applied for an APG grant under Round 2 for the period July
2016-June 2017. I, on behalf of CIS-A2K, would like to invite suggestions
from Kannada community regarding work plan for Kannada Wikimedia projects
(Kn.Wikipedia, Kn.Wikisource) under CIS-A2K workplan.
I request community members to provide their valuable suggestions to
CIS-A2K. Kannada workplan approximately constitutes 1/6th of its budget and
work allocation. Our goal is to help/initiate any activity to improve
Wikimedia projects but keeping in mind the agency shown by community
members. A2K would like to take up activities which add-to and enhance
efforts of the community and not replicate existing initiatives rolled out
by the community members.
Thanks and Regards,
