Not sure of Bengali wikipedia, but I have been following Telugu wikipedia in the recent past.  I found that of late, using a Bot, they added around 8-10k articles on all the villages in Andhra pradesh. These articles are essentially stubs, and just contain a single line  about the village like "xyz is a village in abc district of Andra-Pradesh". 
<br><br>Good news is we recently hit the 4000 mark in Kannada wikipedia. It is also heartening to know that of late, we have been having a lot of new contributors and collaborations leading to articles of good quality. Congrats to all of you for reaching the 4000 milestone and as HPN pointed out we need to spread the message around and get more people into contributing in Kannada wikpedia..
