Anyways, I'm glad to hear this. The situation of hindi and sanskrit
wikipedias are more or less the same as Marathi wikipedia. I myself am
a sysop at Sanskrit wikipedia as well.
Hindi wikipedia has had hundreds of 1 line articles, while Sanskrit has
had one line articles, Complete English articles (just copied from
English wiki) and what not. The situation can be viewed as 'pretty bad'
when compared to the kannada wiki and we ought to be proud about it :)

Marathi has crossed 1000

a sysop. I started writing in kn wiki looking at him write in Marathi.
They have more than 800 stubs and with not a single sentence in them.
well, seeing a good number is nice, but just creating stubs all
around would take us nowhere and might make the wiki more
irritating to the regular users if the probability of coming across a
stub crosses the one for coming across a complete article (and perhaps
people might loose interest in the wiki, too if they keep coming across
just stubs all over). It would be nice if we can keep the stubs to
complete articles ratio at 1:2 or atmost 1:1.
But they have classified everything properly. He writes 'dinvishesh'
everyday. Great idea to include in the main page if everyday some1
writes important events of this day from history.
Well, if someone is ready to take it up on a daily basis, yes.
But who'll take that up? The main point of having a daily featured
article/daily 'today in history' column is to lead the readers to
the various other articles that can be read and expanded (stubs won't
do here - it'll just make the whole thing meaningless).
On Kannada wikipedia, we did rather go for some column thats not
updated so often (atleast not right now), 'cos it would be hard for
individuals to maintain such a thing all by themselves. Once we have
sufficient number of editors on board who can pace up things, we can
think of sucha thing. Remember that we are not eyeing at
directing the readers to stubs, but fullfledged articles from the main
page. The intent to get more and more people involved exists, but not
by showing them a blank page and asking them to edit it. It should
atleast provide some information and then maybe thrust interest in
readers to add more to it which seems more appropriate to me.
