Well, I tried to create some noise about it, but due serious lack of

meant that my opinion would be shelved in next few days.
I understand now that many members (who're comparatively new to wiki)
there hardly understood what I was trying to put across and just
commented to the already metamorphosed discussion.

Some dumbos (I'm sorry I have to say this) never read what was written
on the discussion page, but just nodded their heads to whatever was
proposed to, dryly.

Kannada Wikipedia is not a huge wiki. We're still growing and have just
1000+ legit articles. So, it is very important that we concentrate on
good and *quality* information that can keep getting back readers onto
the wiki (and lead them to contribute thereby). [1]

Stubs on wiki are welcome. But stubs of the same type being added in
*huge numbers* (by a single person, that too) - is a totally different
scenario.

Let us not forget that wiki isn't a movie database. Stubs like the film
stubs with just an infobox and a single sentence (hard coded into the
infobox template), in my opinion, are like weeds. 60% of the kn Wiki is
now filled with that. The implications of it, as I see from here, are
*disastrous*. Weeds do not let other plants grow and often gobble up the
whole lake if not checked. Are we supposed to let that happen on Kannada
Wikipedia or not, we'll have to decide.

Some points there:

1) The film stubs are being created by just *one person* and are just
about *Kannada movies*.

2) The infobox used there uses the generic name but is tailor made for
only Kannada films. (We'll have to think beyond Kannada films and make
room for articles on other Indian films, foreign films as well). [2]

3) The film articles being created just have an infobox and a hardcoded
sentence that has very less prospect of getting expanded in near future.
The reason for it being - not many people have heard or watched complete
database of Kannada movies. Popular movies - yes. Historical movies -
yes. Artistic movies - yes. But I can say it with complete surety that
most of the stubs that have been created would go un-expanded for ages
to come.
Much of the contributor folks might even face the initial difficulty of
finding the single line of the single liner itself! (since single line
is hard-coded into the template)

Since such stubs are being created by just one person, keeping a check
on it would not be difficult. But consensus *is* required.

Let me make it clear that I don't have any hatred for film related
articles (having contributed many foreign/Indian film articles myself) -
but just interested in keeping the project in its full color to enable
the best possible expansion of the project. (By expansion I mean 'in
terms of quality' and not by numbers).

But writing stubs like the bots do isn't good for Kannada Wikipedia.
What is happening currently is like a feed of data being spammed onto kn
wiki from a database of Kannada movies. Kannada fanaticism apart, I see
very less reason why we should have thousands of movie single liners
before we even have the basic set of articles that a encyclopedia
project should have!

[1] - Let us adapt to writing information that is not available in
Kannada language yet (Articles like Mozart, History of Europe, Geography
of Africa or even detailed articles about Baseball would be great lot of
interesting information).

[2] - Some of us had collaborated on many movie articles before. We had
taken care that the articles would never remain virtually locked in
anyway for expansion.

P.S: Forcing postfix on the titles of film stubs thus created was a
conscious proposal that had an insight into the above issue and tried to
the solve the above problem and the problem escalated by the sudden
influx of one-liner film stubs. I'll put that to discussion on some
other thread.
