my sincere apologies for posting the private mail onto the list. I
couldn't think of any other way to help you get clarified, and be
convinced of the suggested words.

But it is is good that there is active participation
now. Hopefully this
will increase, and this category will improve.
yep.

Maybe you should install the unicode kannada font on your machine. Visit:
http://kannada.sourceforge.net/downloads/fonts/
The font installation should be more or less like Fedora. See if this helps:

Feel free to update the doc if the method differs on Suse.

Those words were ok. I guess I replied saying they were so - the
reason why they were not included.

yes, I agree. The word venkatesh murthy suggested looks more
appropriate. (praadeeshika or praantiiya.)
I feel that there may be some other misunderstandings
here, but these
may be removed after HPN has had some time to become fully acquainted
with ODP culture and guidelines.
true.
The issue is a bit more serious than the apparent. Since the erraneous
kannada is on *dmoz*, it gets propagated onto search engines and can
be a real misleading stuff. It would not have been an issue if this
weren't on dmoz.
Atleast in the future, dictionaries like
http://kannadakasturi.com
should be consulted before additions (it supports itrans).
At the end of it all, the names need to be changed ASAP to the correct
ones. (Few sub categories also have been named the same way). Since
there's no editor with those previleges and also good knowledge of
kannada, some senior editor will have to take it up and I'm sure the
members of kannada wikipedia would be glad to help out and send the
correct words for the cat and sub-cat names.
cheers,
