Dear Michael

Your concern is genuine but different from that of Jackie.

Your concern about long emails on an official list is salient and I would try to take care of the issue. Nevertheless, trying to handle the ramifications of a single issue all together automatically make a response long even if there are multiple independent points contained. I will see what I can do about it.

Dear Diptanshu,

As much as I like you, I'm afraid long emails like this only make it impossible , unfortunately, for you to continue in official journal roles, like Jackie rightly points out.

Dear Jackie

Whether you like it or not, I would remain a well wisher and contributor to WikiJournals. My allegiance is to the Open Knowledge movement, and not to you. I would only wish that you forsake your personal ego and think in the best interest of the good things that you are involved in. Please do not mess them up.

My good wishes for are contained in the lines you have quoted. I insist that you develop a perspective of being able to look at the brighter side of things. I have mentioned certain good attributes that I have felt to be essential for the board members. If you do not have them, try and acquire them. If you have them, congratulations. Stop detecting hubris when it is not there. Nevertheless, I do have integrity and dedication something I doubt whether you have ever been able to respect. Earlier you had detected discrimination when it was not there. At least learn from your previous mistakes (well you would need to appreciate them first).

My posting on the social media was an essential step that no board member cared to undertake prior to me. My response to Mr. Turki was based on my experience, and was a helpful one. Please learn to respect what is good. Please learn to understand what is good for the journal. Please realise that by initiating such discussions you might be hampering the cordial environment on the public forum of the WikiJournals. There are so many people reading this thread. They perhaps have more important concerns than be concerned by what you feel uncomfortable about. Please assume good faith. Markus Pössel had stressed on its importance earlier.

There was a message contained in the message I sent. I would only hope that you would be able to comprehend that. You would only be able to do that if you can forsake your ego. You have my best wishes.

Regards
Diptanshu

Note to the EiCs: Please take appropriate actions if somebody demonstrates 'battleground mentality'. I feel that it can seriously affect the health of the journals. Additionally, I would denounce the project if you can pass a resolution on-wiki that only board members can contribute to the well being of the journals.

Diptanshu,

You were removed from the board. As a person who was involved in the situation which culminated in you being removed from the board, I am uncomfortable with you continuing to communicate on behalf of the WikiJournals, on the WikiJournal mailing list, and on social media.

If you want to be involved in the WikiJournals again, I do think showing a little less hubris would do you well. Your use of phrases and statements, which I do believe you think to be persuasive, you are instead showing you do not understand the weight of your actions. This includes statements like: "I can certainly hope that the board members of the respective WikiJournals be wise." The board was wise in regard to "people who deal with issues pertaining to equity and/or empowerment of certain minorities." People who deal with issues pertaining to equity and/or empowerment do not need to accept inappropriate behavior. People who deal with issues pertaining to equity and/or empowerment have been doing that for way too long.

Best,

Jackie

In context of a happening in the recent past, I feel the following quote may bear some context to the participants of WikiJournal.

"Imagine you are walking in the woods and you see a small dog sitting by a tree. As you approach, it suddenly lunges at you, teeth bared. You are frightened and angry. But then you notice that one of its legs is caught in a trap. Immediately your mood shifts from anger to concern: You see that the dog’s aggression is coming from vulnerability and pain. This applies to all of us. When we behave in hurtful ways, it is because we are caught in some kind of painful trap. The more we look through the eyes of wisdom at ourselves and each other, the more we cultivate a compassionate heart."

I can only hope that the board members of the respective WikiJournals be wise. This is especially relevant to people who deal with issues pertaining to equality and/or empowerment of certain minorities. It can be awefully problematic if they lack such wisdom.
