Unfortunately, that didn't work -- it just gave me the "database locked" page again.
And I *had* clicked on Preview. That was where I got the error. I always do Preview when I'm making large edits, so I can copy it in case of an edit conflict. I'm just mad at myself for not getting it in under the wire.

Normally, one hits "back", and copies the text from the edit box, and
pastes it into a nice text file.
In case this is problematic on Internet Explorer and other notoriously
wikipedia-unfriendly browsers, I've just tweaked it so that trying to
save a page during lockout in the future will divert to a preview,
giving you a chance to copy the text without hitting 'back'.
