In this case, it might be a good idea for the web page where one signs up for the mailing list to mention links to the basic policies, and inform people not to post to the mailing list prior to reading them all. Apologies if it already says this - I obviously missed it if so. I also wasn't aware that most of my emails had been so newbie-ish, so apologies for this also. I shall try harder in future.
