Introducing the Wikidata thesis toolkit
With the focus increasingly on the academic library as a provider of Open Knowledge, the
libraries at LSE and York have been working to develop a process to upload research theses
metadata to Wikidata in order to extend the access and visibility of scholarly content.
We are keen to reduce the development burden for this work across the sector and have
compiled a toolkit to give guidance to other academic libraries who are interested in
promoting their research in a similar way.
A more detailed introduction to our work can be found
here<https://docs.google.com/document/d/14FylUJ9soIqMzH3yCOHHZzPgE7S3cvd…it>,
and the toolkit itself can be accessed via the Wikidata Thesis
Toolkit<https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:WikiProject_Wikidata_Thes…it>.
Helen and Ruth will be presenting the toolkit at the Metadata and Discovery Group
conference<https://www.cilip.org.uk/events/EventDetails.aspx?id=1729456&group=201298>
in September 2023.
