Probability of detection (PoD) is central to fighting vandalism, and that does not imply making the vandalism less visible.

Symmetric statements makes vandalism appear in more places, making it more visible, and thereby increasing the chance for detection.

If you isolate the vandalism it will be less visible, but then it will be more likely that no one will ever spot it.

And yes, PoD is a military thingy and as such is disliked by the wikicommunities. Still sometimes it is wise to check out what is actually working and why it is working.
