Apologies for cross-posting.

We are excited to announce that the West Bengal Wikimedians User Group is collaborating with the School of Language and Linguistics of the Jadavpur University, Kolkata to add a total of more than 5,000 lexicographical data for 5 endangered languages of West Bengal with varying degrees of vulnerability according to UNESCO scale. These languages are Kharia Thar, Koda, Kurmali, Mahali and Toto.

The School will assign 5 post-graduate students in linguistics as Wikimedians-in-residence to upload the said data on Wikidata who will spend 360 man-hours in total within a 3-months deadline. The entire expenditure of this assignment will be borne by the user group from its annual budget granted from the WMF community fund.

The process of selection of the students and including the languages into Wikibase is underway. We hope to start the project by the end of this month.
