Hello all,

Wikidata's birthday is happening soon, on October 29th, and as every year, plenty of people and local groups got together to organize events for this occasion. Some of these events already happened, most of them will take place in the next few days. I'm pretty amazed by the diversity of the participants and the quality of the topics, and I think it is definitely worth having a look, especially as most of these events will be accessible from remote!

• Wikidata Eighth Birthday Celebration in Lagos, Nigeria, on October 24th: meetup, training and editing contest
• Birthday Celebration in Ulm, Germany, and online, on October 24th
• Wikidata Party in São Paulo, Brazil, and online, on October 24th: interactive presentations, activities and presents
• Several Wikidata and Wikibase-related presentations at the Italian WikiCon, on October 24-25, online

• Wikidata+Wikipedia+OpenStreetMap workshop in Rennes, France, on October 25th
• WikiCite virtual conference, online, on October 26-28, with several sessions and multiple speakers in English, German, Portuguese and French
• Wikidata Education Week, online, on October 26-30
• Wikidata & Wikibase office hour, online, on October 27th: update from the development team and discussions
• 24-hours online meetup, on October 28-29: an open discussion with plenty of community members facilitating exchange around the topic "what makes you enthusiastic about Wikidata"
• Gene Wiki: how to synchronize and curate primary sources with and in Wikidata, online, on October 29th
• Birthday celebration in Rennes, France, on October 29th
• Birthday Celebration in Accra, Ghana, and online, on October 29th

For many of these events, you will be able to watch the content in replay afterwards, like for the WikidataLab videos that are available on Commons. Congratulations to all events organizers! It's awesome to see that despite the difficult context and lack of onsite opportunities, plenty of people dedicated time and energy to organize birthday celebrations <3
