Hoi,
The question is much bigger than British English. If you language is Hindi, Odia or Malayalam you will find that many labels are just not available. The one reason why Reasonator is so important is that it does provide language fall back.

Language fallback is not a luxury like it is for British English, it is essential for all the smaller languages. It is what prevents it from being editable / usable.

The status is that we have a plan for the next steps. I realize it is
important but currently not doable in the next say 3 months. There is
simply too much to do (queries, statements on properties, UI redesign,
quantities with units, entity suggester, starting with Commons). If
anyone is able and willing to take this on please send me an email.
As for disabling en-gb for now: Daniel, Katie: What do you say?
