Hey,
I think the data model description is really clear (at least I think I
have understood it ;) ). Maybe some points could be improved:
Concerning the Part about statements
I would maybe choose a top down approach to describing the individual
components. i.e.:
A statement consists of a claim and optionally one or more references
sourcing that claim.
A claim consists of a property, a value and optionally one or more qualifiers
(and then go on about property, value and qualifiers as well as references)
To me such an approach seems to be more clear in reguard to the image
showed on the right, than to start with the individual components and
then go on about how they are grouped.
There seems to be a conflict with the requirement that "Wikidata will
not be about the truth, but about statements and their references."
however, since in the model references seem to be about claims and not
statements (although being part of statements). Maybe a more concise
wording could be choosen to harmonize the vocabulary.
Also maybe some visualization of the components can help understanding
(example attached.)
Another thing: the "example statements" seem to actually be (pseudo)
items with statements (?), but while the label is there the
description is missing. Since the text above says every item must have
a label and a description this is a bit confusing. Maybe a simple
description can be added to the pseudo items.

Aw gosh, I really thought it is written with an
"s". I guess I forgot
the spelling, since Elizabeth II wasn't mentioned in the news for a
while and so I wasn't reminded about how to write that name...
Thanks for reading,

Was the Elisabeth redirect some deliberate statement about
internationalisation ;)
(Sorry internationalization!)

Heya folks :)
We've published a version of the data model that is less technical and
that should be easier to understand than the very detailed existing
one. You can find it at

Feedback welcome!
Cheers
