If it's possible to engage some of the GLAM institutions here in NYC and around the world in doing donations like this, I know I for one would like to strongly promote and support this type of Wikidata+Commons-focused initiative. I think other chapters might be able to integrate this into ongoing initiatives and annual editathons that are in the GLAM-o-sphere.... We have some coming up this Fall but that is probably too soon? Is there a tentative timeframe for this project? I see a lot of work was done in 2014.

We will be using Wikidata's vocabulary (items and properties) as that
has a lot of advantages here. However a lot of that is already
connected to A&A Thesaurus and others. So we're pretty flexible there
for different usecases.
