Extension:ExternalData RCE vulnerability

There is an actively-exploited remote code execution vulnerability in the ExternalData MediaWiki extension for versions prior to 3.7: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T434961 https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:External_Data This is not installed by default, but may be used in some custom configurations or services to display SPARQL results on wiki pages, including BlueSpice, Canasta, MyWikis, ProWiki and semantic::core. You can check whether ExternalData is actually in use and its version by going to Special:Version and searching for "External Data". It should be listed under Installed Extensions if present. Global GLAM Call - 22 September

Hi everyone, This is your reminder that next Tuesday, 22 September, is the next Global GLAM Call. These are monthly community calls with a collaborative agenda that usually covers all kinds of culture and heritage related topics in the WIkimedia movement. Every month, for more than 2 years, dozens of community members have gathered online to exchange ideas and projects and discuss different ongoing activities. Wikibase Suite upgrade 7 -> 8 fails, implicating LocalSettings.php

Hi all, I'm attempting to upgrade WSD 7 to Wikibase Suite 8, and have followed the instructions carefully. All goes well until I run docker up -d, which fails to bring up wbs-deploy-wikibase-1. The logs show wikibase-1 | Legacy LocalSettings.php found; preserving and migrating it. wikibase-1 | The generated LocalSettings.php is not a supported Wikibase Suite 7 configuration. It would seem that the error should say this is not a supported version EIGHT configuration, but perhaps that logging string hasn't been updated in the 8 codebase. In any case, I can confirm that my single extension, UserMerge, is not implicated in the Wikibase image changelog. Any suggestions on how to proceed?
