The Wikibase Community User Group has been asked to nominate six candidates out of twelve for the upcoming election to the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees, as part of a shortlisting process open to all WMF affiliates.
This is a prelude to the actual election (for two seats), where it was felt that requiring the wider community to consider more than ten candidates would be too much.
Unfortunately we only have a day and a bit to do so, as while I registered as the elector for this process as requested by the WMF, I missed the first email indicating that shortlisting would actually take place. Sorry about that. :-/
Given the limited time period (which in any case would have been before our regular monthly meeting), I've reused the voting scheme used for the 2021 primary contact election, with links to the candidate statements and users concerned, as well as information on the shortlisting process:

Essentially, you get to score each candidate separately and the candidates with the highest average score will be nominated. The candidates with the highest number of nominations from all affiliates will stand as candidates for the actual election.
Nominees must be submitted before 23:59 UTC on Monday 28 July (tomorrow), so please have your votes in by 23:00 UTC so that the scores can be tallied. Daylight saving time is in effect in many places, so e.g. members in London have until midnight to vote. (Don't feel you have to wait, though; it took me ~30 minutes to review all candidate statements.)

Wikibase Image

in order to allow instances not relying on our Deploy package to also
participate. Also, we made the setting of METADATA_CALLBACK mandatory now.
You can of course still opt out of the feature by setting
METADATA_CALLBACK=false In your environment variables (e.g. your .env file
when using Deploy).
Furthermore, we improved the out-of-the-box configuration of the
WikibaseManifest
extension <https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:WikibaseManifest> which
now reports URLs of adjacent services such as WDQS, WDQS frontend, and
QuickStatements automatically. This is part of our initiative to align with
other products such as Wikibase Cloud as well as working towards our vision
of the Linked Open Data Web.

Dear Wikibase Community,
We’re so excited to announce our Call Back feature! This is completely new
functionality we’re adding to Wikibase Suite Deploy that will help create a
list of Wikibases. The aim of this feature is to support initiatives of
Linked Open Data by improving discoverability of Wikibase instances, which,
in turn, will encourage data re-use.
Highlights
Following are some important highlights of this release:

This feature represents an initiative to maintain an index of Wikibases;
it simply uses the URL of each instance. We aim to gather more quantitative
data to learn more about how Wikibase is being used. We want to build a
list that acts as a central hub for data re-use and federation initiatives
between Wikibases, where users can discover other Wikibases easily.

Our new Call Back feature duplicates some of the efforts of the
wikibase.world <https://wikibase.world/wiki/Project:Home> project. We
decided to add this feature, not to compete with wikibase.world, but to
offer users a lower-effort alternative that lets even short-term projects
get some visibility and to provide a clear consent process.

We will periodically collect some publicly accessible metadata from each
instance. No personal data will be retrieved; we can only access publicly
visible information such as the number of entities in your instance. If
your Wikibase instance requires a login to view data, we won’t be able to
collect statistics.

This is an opt-in feature -- i.e., you manually set ‘true’ or ‘false’
depending on your preference -- which allows every user to make a
conscious decision as to whether they’d like to participate.

In the near future, we expect to have a proper showcase of all the
Wikibases that have opted in so as to increase discoverability. For now,
however, this data will remain only with Wikimedia Deutschland.
How to get it
If you agree to be a part of this initiative, you can enable the setting
METADATA_CALLBACK=true in your .env file. By default, this setting is left
blank, so you’d need to set it while setting up your Wikibase instance.
You can disable the feature at any time by setting METADATA_CALLBACK=false
in your .env file.
If you’ve already registered and want to be removed from the list, please
send an e-mail to wikibase-suite-support(a)wikimedia.de containing your
hostname to remove your instance from the listing on Wikibase Metadata and
stop periodic analysis.
