Dear Community,

for those who have not seen it, yet, there will be another Wikimedia Hackathon next year. 🎉

The Wikimedia Hackathon is an annual event that brings the global technical community together to connect and have technical discussions, hack on existing projects and explore new ideas for others. The Hackathon is participant-driven and gets its life from the active participation of its attendees.

  • Dates & Venue: Held in-person from May 2-4, 2025, at the Renaissance Polat Istanbul Hotel in Istanbul, Turkey. 

    • The Hackathon event is free for all to attend. Catering and covid-related equipment will be provided during the event, but participants are expected to book their own travel arrangements and accommodation. 

    However, the Wikimedia Foundation is offering to take care of travel and accommodation for a limited selection of scholars. You will be able to apply for a scholarship during the registration process.

  • Scholarship Application Deadline: submissions close on December 10, 2024.

    • If you would like to discuss your project ideas or learn more about the set up of the Hackathon, I would like to set up a meeting for us and discuss.
