Dear Wikimedia Research Community,
We are thrilled to announce that Wikimania 2025, marking 20 years of Wikimedia's impact, will take place in Nairobi, Kenya, from August 6-9, with a pre-conference on August 5. This year's theme, "Wikimania at 20: Inclusivity. Impact. Sustainability.", resonates deeply with the mission of the Wikimedia Research community. We invite you to actively participate by submitting program proposals that showcase your innovative research, insights, and advancements in Wikimedia projects.
The Call for Program Proposals is ongoing and remain open until 31 March 2025, and we encourage submissions in diverse modes: ● Present remotely from your home or workplace. ● Submit a pre-recorded presentation to share your work asynchronously with the general audience. ● Present on-site in Nairobi, for those who wish to join us in person.
To help spark ideas, here are a few topics that may align with the conference theme: ● Research findings that demonstrate Wikimedia's inclusivity and its role in global knowledge dissemination. ● Innovations in advancing sustainability across Wikimedia projects. ● Case studies of impactful research-driven technologies that empower Wikimedia communities. ● Studies on participation trends and strategies for engaging underrepresented communities. ● Collaborative approaches to designing equitable and inclusive Wikimedia projects.
Your contributions will help shape the future of Wikimedia's initiatives while celebrating two decades of shared knowledge.
Submit your proposal via the program submission site: https://wikimania.wikimedia.org/wiki/2025:Program .
For suggestions, comments, or assistance, feel free to email at wikimania@wikimedia.org . Our dedicated team of volunteers is eager to support you.
We encourage you to share your unique perspectives and help shape meaningful conversations at the conference. We look forward to seeing your incredible ideas come to life at Wikimania 2025!
Warm regards,
