The Weird Sisters Women's Theater Collective (my all-female troupe in Austin) will be doing Midsummer finally; we've resisted it in our seven years, but at long last we're going to indulge ourselves. I've always directed the Weirds' plays--never performed--but this time around I'm thinking of casting myself as Quince. The setting will be contemporary, and our main twist is to change Lysander to Lysandra, thus exploring gay marriage. (We're all experimental like that. It's Doc's fault for giving me a copy of Marowitz's RECYCLING SHAKESPEARE many years ago.)

I'd love all of your input as the collective plunges into this project. We'll perform most obscenely the last two weekends of August. It would be such a hoot if any of you could come see it--or even join in! (We do let boys help with the process, but only girls get to strut and fret on the stage.)
