we'll be able to read the

mail-to-news gateway is really useful, because you won't have thousands
of email each day if you're subscribed to a lot of mailinglists. See

The hierarchy currently is a mess:
gmane.org.wikimedia.foundation.uk
gmane.org.wikimedia.france
gmane.science.linguistics.wikipedia.verein
I have now asked for wikimediach-l to be
gmane.org.wikimedia.foundation.switzerland, but maybe they'll change the
hierarchy.
How about asking Gmane to change
gmane.org.wikimedia.france to
gmane.org.wikimedia.foundation.france
and gmane.science.linguistics.wikipedia.verein
to gmane.org.wikimedia.foundation.germany
You can discuss whether each chapter is part of the foundation or not
but regarding the hierarchy it's much better to have each chapter's list
at gmane.org.wikimedia.foundation.*
Changing gmane.science.linguistics.wikipedia.* to
gmane.org.wikimedia.wikipedia.* would be logical too but it would break
too many links so we have to live with it as long as there is nothing
like a "group redirect".
What's you opinion? May I ask them to change the names?

P.S.: By the way Lars Magne does a good job with gmane and we profit
from it - any ideas how to support him? Maybe We could tell people to
donate to Gmane (
http://gmane.org/donate.php)? If it was a private
company we could just spend an amount for hosting and archiving our
mailing lists but donating money that was donated to Wikimedia or one of
it's chapters it a bit tricky I think.
