Apparently my last few messages didn't go through to this list. Hopefully this will work...
With less than 19 hours until the Board elections start, there are an alarming number of languages where not all of the candidate statements are translated (seven of the top ten language Wikipedias are not completely translated!)
* German (6 statements not translated) * Italian (1 statement) * Japanese (~8 statements) * Polish (2 statements) * Portuguese (13 statements) * Russian (~11 statements) * Spanish (13 statements)
There are many more languages outside the top ten that are not completely translated. We want to make sure that voters have access to candidate information in as many languages as possible, and your help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Ryan

Mohan..may be you don't understand English! Voluntary means you provide service of your own accord without expecting any benefits! If you can't be a volunteer, then you shouldn't be here. And please avoid using foul language and calling the other person an idiot when you are behaving like one

Hi who u the blady to advise me to unsubscribe..?
Hello,
Wikimedia is mostly run by volunteers, translations in particular. There is no paid job on Wikimedia translations to date, you are better to find it somewhere else.
You are always welcome if you are willing to volunteer Wikimedia translation with your language skills, but if you are not interested in participation to our volunteer community, unsubscription would be a reasonable option.
In addition, as a list moderator, I'd like to remind every subscriber, both Mohan and other people, they are expected to be friendly, assume good faith in each other and respect each other. Excessively bad wording to other volunteers may be moderated. Also this list is dedicated to translation for and on Wikimedia, not political affairs in the world. If your main concern is the latter, please find a more suitable forum, it's simply no topic on this list, and thus moderated, if it continues.
Cheers,

Hi Ryan
I have been editing Wikipedia in English, Portuguese, Spanish, Afrikaans etc for many years, but have never translated internal Wikipedia pages.
How do I go about picking an item for translation, and how would I know if someone else is not busy translating that specific item already?

Unfortunately, this is not possible. The usual wiki-tricks apply - check the histories of the pages and save often to avoid edit conflicts.
In the future the Translate extension may be enabled and this will make this process somewhat easier. See https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28021 .

Rui,
To translate anything to portuguese - i will REALLY apreciate that, i'm with no time to translate anything today - just choose one, translate and save, and do that until you get tired or finish :) Isn't very likely any other portuguese speaker people would be doing that today, so you don't need to worry about that so much. _____ *Béria Lima* Wikimedia Portugal http://wikimedia.pt (351) 963 953 042

Ok...
Rui, the task is take all candidates who are here: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Board_elections/2011/Candidates/en
and translate their statements to here: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/ Board_elections/2011/Candidates/pt
As you can see there are 19 in the original page, and only 6 in the pt one, so we have 13 to translate _____ *Béria Lima* Wikimedia Portugal http://wikimedia.pt (351) 963 953 042
