There has been a big push recently on work within Wikimedia to create & distribute offline projects relating to Wikipedia to extend reach into those areas of the world which lack consistent access to Internet. Much work has been done in this arena in English: resulting in lots of pages about the project almost exclusively in English.
Recently, progress has been made in creating a selection of offline articles for use in schools from the Spanish Wikipedia, and an Offline Portuguese version is also in discussion. As such, it would be great to help facilitate these language projects through the expansion of the Offline Projects page on meta:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Offline_Projects
Casey went through and added the navigation template to the pages, and it would be incredibly useful and helpful to expand upon the languages in which the information regarding this project are offered. All languages are eagerly welcome, but *Spanish & Portuguese* specifically are requested.
Like almost all our wiki-pages, the timeline is open-ended, but it would be ideal to get the Spanish & Portuguese versions done by the *end of June*: prior to the
Ibero-American Summit.
Thanks so much for your help - please do reach out to me with your questions (and/or if you are interested in broader involvement with the offline work!) -
Jessie
