Dear translators,
After Siebrand had given me a demonstration of the fantastic new Translate
extension, I realized we are now able to take a big step forward in making
the Wikimedia Grants program more accessible to our colleagues around the
world.
I therefore ask for your help in translating
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Index into as many languages as
possible, to ensure those seeking funding can find useful information in
their own language.
I have tried to make that page as concise and as clear as possible, though
there is a somewhat unavoidable level of detail required because people
actually need all this information to submit grant proposals.
Nevertheless, if, during translation, you encounter something that's
unclear, contradictory, or just weird, please don't hesitate to call it
out, on this thread, on the talk page, or privately to me.
Thanks in advance for your help! I appreciate it greatly.

Hi,
as every month, translations are wanted for the new edition of the
"Wikimedia Highlights", consisting of the most relevant information
from the Foundation's general and technical monthly reports for April,
with a short selection of other important news from the Wikimedia
movement. Please consider helping non-English-language Wikimedia
communities to stay updated on the most important WMF activities,
MediaWiki development work and other international news from the past
month, by providing a translation at
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Highlights,_April_2012
For Danish, German, Finnish, French, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian
(Bokmål), Dutch, Polish, Vietnamese, Finnish, Russian, Hungarian and
Macedonian, it is useful to compare the earlier translations
(https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Highlights#Previous_issues
), as the "Data and Trends" and "Financials" sections contain a lot of
recurring vocabulary.
As usual, it is planned to announce the translations (i.e.those which
have been completed at that point) on the general
Wikimedia announcements list Wikimediaannounce-l, on Wednesday, May
16. (On the suggestion of some, trying out a longer timespan of seven
days this time - it's of course always a balance between giving
translators enough time and getting the translated versions to readers
not too long after the end of the month.)
We are also posting them as language- and country-targeted updates of
the official Wikipedia Facebook account, which reaches a large
audience, and will experiment with promoting them on other social
media channels as well.
Many thanks!

You are invited to a bug triage on Meta and mediawiki.org translation
tools hosted by the Wikimedia Foundation Localisation team. This will
be a one hour meeting. The intended audience is very broad:
translators, translation administrators, and developers. We will
discuss the current state of translation tools on Meta-Wiki and
mediawiki.org, and with your input we will try to map out which
features and issues will be most helpful to streamline the translation
process for things like documentation, policies, sitenotices,
fundraiser messaging and appeals, and other non-"primary project
content"* material that benefits from being available in as many
languages as possible.
Please forward this e-mail to anyone who may be interested. They are
most welcome to join in.
* Translating main namespace articles for Wikipedia and other projects
is still out of scope for now.
Cheers!
